I have a 3 year old female dachshund with IVDD. For almoast 3 weeks she has been vomiting at least once a day every day. Her poop is normal and urine is normal. She eats and drinks and acts completely normal playing and everything. The vet says it might be a food allergy but she's not sure. She wants me to go back in 2 weeks if she doesn't stop vomiting. Right now my dog is on some sort of upset stomach medicine which seems to help.Does anyone have any idea what could be going on?

Does she vomit a lot? Or is it more like regurgitation?

What's the name of the medicine that she's on?

Dogs that continue to vomit are sometimes put on an anti-nausea medication such as Cerenia or Metocloprimide.

She only vomits once or twice a day. Yesterday she didn't vomit at all but today she has. And she is on metocloprimide. I think the medicine is helping but she's still vomiting just not as frequently. Im feeding her blue wilderness rocky mountain formula now. She was eating purina pro plan. The vet I saw thinks it could be a food allergy but she didn't seem too sure of herself.

I also noticed today that she had a clear yellow tinted discharge after urinating. Could thiz be related?

It seems like she is on a pretty decent medication to help with nausea. You should really stay in contact with your vet who is helping you. If the Metoclopramide isn't keeping her from getting nauseated, than they may need to switch to a different medication or add to it.

As for the discharge.. Clear (or close to it) is always pretty safe. But because so much is going on, you should let your vet know. Some medications can cause other secondary problems.

Good Luck!

I took her to the vet today and the vet put her on an antibiotic. She said to keep up with the nausea meds and if she doesn't get better in 2 weeks to take her back fir blood work.

Sounds like a pretty good plan!

Thanks for looking out for your furbaby!
