A patient is in an agitated state is brought to the emergency department. The physician verbally orders 2 mL of IM (intramuscular)of Vistaril. The healthcare professional draws up 2 mL from a vial labeled 50mg/mL. She then notices another vial of Vistaril labeled 25mg/mL. What should she do?

The physician should be ordering milligrams not milliliters.

Ok then as a healthcare professional what would I do? See I am studying to be a medical assistant and this is the scenario the professor gave me so I am not sure how to explain what to do because I thought the same thing.

You would ask the doctor to clarify his/her order, I.e. "Hey doc, how many mg do you want to give?"
