I asked this as a yahoo question also, but never did come up with the movie name... thought I would try it here:

I think it might have been some time in the 80's. It's not very popular... it had sort of an "indie" movie feel to it. All I can remember is that the central character was a teenage girl... it seems like she had red hair. The main thing I remember about the movie was that this girl came off as being a bit strange... she was convinced that nuclear war was coming, and she always thought she heard incoming nuclear missiles.

I remember the imagery of blue skies, and her staring up at the sky as if expecting to see incoming missiles any second. I've searched and searched and can't find any reference to this movie.
