Please someone advise me! I want to remove color buildup on my hair! Its black and tried to lift its level with market dye box but the black doesn't seem to lighten except from the roots! Any advice on what product to use?

I was told that black (level 2-3) ddnt lighten because first time I dyed I used Garnier 4.15 which is really dark so next time I dyed lighter it ddnt work.. is that true? Or its just that black can't be lightened with the 20 vol. developer that comes with market dye boxes?

First of all... color doesn't lift color. Meaning, if you dyed your hair a dark color, you cannot use a light dye to lift what is already on there. That is why your roots (virgin hair) was the only thing that lifted..

The only way to lighten hair is to use bleach or strip the dye out.

Honestly, I would go to a salon professional and get a free consultation so that he or she can tell you exactly what you need to do.

If you try to do anything by yourself, you run the risk of uneven distribution and not to mention the shades.
