Hi Neville

Did you open up the vents on the radiators? If not, open them full open and the downstairs radiators will drain fast. If you have opened the vents and they are not draining then my guess is that there is a shutoff that is closed on the zone in question...

Hello mark, I opened the upstair rads vents and they drain. Went open the downstairs and they were full of water so I shut the bleed vents off.

You should have a hose on the boiler downstairs so that when you open the downstairs vents they will allow air into the system and allow water to drain out the hose in the basement... make sense?

I am fitting a towel rail in downstairs bathroom. Drained the upstairs rads but the downstairs will not drain. When opening up the downstairs rad bleed vents, there is water spurting out. Help please.

Hello Mark, do I need to put a hose on the boiler or should it be there already so as to allow air in.

You put the hose on so the water can drain. You open the upstairs vents so air can come in. The water can't drain out unless air can come in to replace it.
