Having 5 panadols, is it an overdose? And what are the side effects?

It really depends on the milligrams. Why do you ask?

My friend has acted stupid by having 5 panadol advance and refused to go to a gp. So I just want to know if it's nothing to worry about

It depends on the milligrams. There is a 3 gram a day allowance. After that kidney failure is a possibility.

I recommend that she go to the A&E to have her acetaminophen levels checked. She needs to go now rather than later.

Okay.. I shall try and take her. But if she doesn't agree, the only option would be to call the ambulance.

But are there any symptoms that a person could see and tell that this is getting severe

Thank you very much for your help really appreciate it

No there are no symptoms that would appear immediately. It happens over time.

Please tell me she doesn't drink alcohol on top of this.

Please get her medical attention. There is nothing I can do for her online, she will need blood tests to have her acetaminophen levels checked.

Please keep me posted as to what the doctors find out.

Panadol comes in various strengths. She took 5 of them at 500 milligrams, that equals out to two and a half grams. The current recommended dosage in 24 hours is three grams, meaning she would have to take 6 of them in a 24-hour period.

Panadol, in the UK, or Tylenol in the US, is very damaging to the kidneys and can cause kidney failure if taken in excess.

It also depends upon how she took them. If she took all 5 within a 24 hour period, she is at risk. If she took them within a 12 hour period she is at higher risk. If she took them all at once, well, she might be in trouble.

She took all the 5 of them together.. I HAVE taken her to the gp.. and told them that I was not around and this happened. They are like we can do tests. But she will probably feel the symptoms after 12 hours. And also depends on the body condition. And she has iron problems she has to drip in iron every now then. And plus she is an international student.. she took all 5 together.

I really hope nothing extreme happens. The GPS are diagnosing her and all
