I have a Hyundai Elantra GLS A/T with about 14000 miles on it. Did errands this morning and everything was fine. Went to go out for dinner tonight, turned the ignition and nothing. NADA. No dash lights, no clicking, nothing. I couldn't use my keyless remote to open the trunk. Need some expert answers what happened and what can I do to fix it.

. Remove and fully charge, or replace, the battery. Most auto parts stores will test and charge batteries for free. For a preliminary test, take a multimeter and check for 12.6v across the terminals. If you have to buy a new battery, get it charged prior to installation.

. Test all under hood and under dash fuses with a test light or multimeter.

. Other possibilities include a security system problem (quite likely) or a faulty ignition switch. I suspect a security system problem, which the dealer will need to fix.

Thanks TxGreaseMonkey. The tow truck driver was able to charge the batery enough so I could drive to the dealer. The dealer did 2 charges to the battery and each time the charge held. They have no esxplanation what happened as nothing was left on in the car when we came back home yesterday morning. I guess we'll see what happens. Thanks again for the information.

Are you certain that no interior lights were on (personal experience of mine)? Check in the dark to be certain.
