My upright whirlpool freezer defrosted and both outsides of it are extremely hot what to do?

The hot gas line coming from the compressor is run through the outside of the refrigerator to keep it from freezing around the door(s). That is why you never drill a hole in the sheet metal unless you know where those lines are run. I have seen several cases where someone drilled through a refrigerant line while trying to install a lock hasp. Is the freezer working properly? Have you cleaned the coils under this unit? If not, dirty coils will make it hotter than normal, so unplug and remove back cover and front kickplate so you can see all of the coils and the condensate drain pan. Then spray the coils down with a mix of Liquid Tide and water or 409 or some other good liquid soap like Simple Green. If possible, remove the fan blade and clean it, too. It needs to be cleaned because only a little bit of dirt kills air flow. After spraying the coils down with soap wash them off with a spray of water from a hose nozzle keeping water out of the fan motor. Cover it with a plastic bag, if possible. Then vacuum up water with wet-vac. The motor should then be oiled with an oiler with a plastic pull-out tube you can buy at any HVAC parts house or an appliance parts store for about $2.00. Some motors have oil hole plugs and others you can punch a hole in the reservoir holding felt with an ice pick or drill a small 1/8" hole at the top of the reservoir. Once finished you should replace the back before running the unit or the air on some units will not be routed through the coils. Clean the coils yearly to keep from burning up the compressor because when you fail to do this it can void any warranties as I have seen happen.
