My wife dropped the top part of her razor and it went down the drain I am assuming it is sitting in the elbow) and not the water is starting to back up and slowly drain. I do have complete access to the pipes in my basement. Is it just as easy and disconnecting the elbow clean it out and put it back or am I missing something? I do have steel pipes. Should I change the elbow to PVC? When I connect the elbow back, do I need anything like Teflon tape or anything?

If the trap is using compression fitting, it is just a matter of unscrewing, cleaning and reinstalling.

What makes you think that the razor got past the Tee connecting the tub drain to the overflow pipe? Have you checked that? Is this elbo the one on top of the trap? You have a tub access hole behind the drain. I don't think it got past the tee. I would take the overflow pipe out and check. Let me know what you find. Good luck, Tom
