Hey,
I'm having some trouble connecting my Insignia NS-DVDR1 DVD Recorder to my Comcast HDTV Cable Box and my Vizio L42 HDTV. Can anyone help me out?
Thanks!

Take the cable box output, such as the RCA's red, yellow and white and connect them to the DVD recorder RCA inputs. Red to Red, white to white, yellow to yellow.
Now take the DVD outputs, again RCA's red, yellow, white connect to corresponding RCA's jacks on TV.
This configuration will give you the lowest quality video and standard stereo sound.
For better video, 480i, use an S-video cable between DVD recorder and TV.
To record with best possible video, connect s-video cable between cable box output and dvd recorder input.
For best picture on TV when playing a DVD, connect dvd recorder component video outputs (Blue,Green and Red RCAs) to corresponding colored inputs on TV.
Unfortunately HD TV shows will be shown as 480i on your TV, since it is being played through the recorder at s-video quality.
Now the best HD picture would subjectively be the cable box digital output (i.e. DVI or HDMI) to the matching input on your TV. Although this bypasses the recorder.
Now, if your cable box outputs the a/v signals on all available connections simultaneously, then your in luck. You can connect the above s-video to dvd recorder, and digital (HDMI or DVI) to the TV.
