If I filed for a divorce through the newspaper because I did not know where my spouse was; after 30 days of being in the paper of where I knew him to be; is my divorce final?

No, that's just one part. You file at your local courthouse, fill out papers, and pay a fee. Regardless of where you live and what your court considers a good effort to find your spouse, it's going to take a long time to be final.

No you now have to go to court with proof and file.

You don't "file for divorce" through a newspaper. You file for divorce with a court. You use a newspaper to try and serve notice to your spouse when other methods fail. You then go back to the court and present your evidence that you have tried to serve your spouse and ask that your divorce be granted by default.

Only a court can issue a divorce.
