When I was young I remember watching a mech (anime) film.. I started with a young lad in a mine I think and inherits / find something, can't remember what it was.. I remember a white giant robot that transforms into a future lorry or some-sort, this robot in part of the film had to battle another robot with a drill for its head.

Sorry trying to remember what I can, some part of the film this pilot doesn't know how to use the robots controls as he's thrown into a fight and he gets told 'just use your karate'.

Now towards the end of the film I kind of remember this robot nearly gets destroyed trying to get to the end of a corridor in some-sort of station and that he originally has to fight these beings that are human in form but have wings, and that they realise their error in their ways but its to late for some reason.

I think it came out in the late 80's or early 90's, but not sure..

I'm not sure on how someone can help me but please try to remember folks :P, I have been hunting this for over a year...
