I have recently signed custody of my son to my step sister, but it was under the pretense that it was temporary. Now she is refusing to give him back. Its only been 2 weeks since I signed the custody papers. I know that I need to file an appeal of some kind but I think I also need a lawyer to represent me, since the other side has gotten one. What do I need to do?

First hire a lawyer... they will know what to do next.

The problem is I don't really have enough money to hire a lawyer... but I can save up and get one... is there not anything I can do on my own with out a lawyer?

That depends on how important winning is to you. The legal process is a difficult one to navigate... with many opportunities to mess things up at every step.

While it IS technically possible to do many things yourself... fumbling through things and mistakes at the proceedings will generate bias against you.

First, what did you sign and why? Do you have a copy of what you signed? Did you sign before a judge? Was the signed document approved by a court?

Give us the background so we can help.

A temporary order will say that, temporary, and it normally has a date that it is good for, or till certain events happen.

Why in 2 weeks, have life changed to make this right. 2 weeks, there would have been no need for a order, that is baby sitting.

So what was the plan when this first started ? Is there a need for the children to be out of your home ?
