I have a new cleaning company and have tried Google adwords, craigslist, Google places, Yahoo locals and it just seems like nothing is getting sufficient clients. I have a very detailed website, business email and all is well written.

I was thinking of sending personal letters with business cards to small business. Some say its not a good idea or that they just won't read it. What do you all think? I have done cold calling by phone and it seems like they are always to busy to talk even if its almost closing time. Would going in person be better?

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

99 percent will get thrown in the mail, most without being read.

Going in person, talking with owners, maintenance managers is almost the only way you will really get business. A professional sales team is what is used for all large companies.

Many will ask a friend who they use, others may do a basic search on internet, also, local pages, or online news that only does local area is a good advertising for online

But for most, you will need to see them in person, find out if they have a company, when the contract is due, and know when to follow up.

Okay great thanks Chuck really helpful, do you think showing up early morning would be best vs near closing time? Everybody is telling me different timing... your the expert though.

Some are telling me to say I'm looking to speak with the owner about a business matter... some say to just book a appt as a client... I'm not sure I it's a good idea. Do you agree?
