The first chapter of the book introduces the main female character as a news reporter who's life is unraveling and she somehow misses the announcement of Princess Diana's death. That is all I have to go on.

Do you have any memory of what resulted because she missed the news reports? She was fired or ended up in a hospital? Any names come to mind or a setting?

I figured out a movie title last night with "windmill" as a clue, so anything you can remember might help.

Maybe this one?
While breaking the hottest news story of the year, broadcast journalist Isabel Murphy falls apart on live television in front of an audience of millions. She lands at Three Breezes, a four-star psychiatric hospital nicknamed the "nut hut," where she begins the painful process of recovering the life everyone thought she had.
But accepting her place among her fellow patients proves difficult, and Isabel struggles to reconcile the fact that she is, indeed, one of them. As she faces the reality that in order to mend her painfully fractured life she must rely solely on herself, she must also accept an imperfect life in a world that demands perfection.

Your eyes are fine. It took a bit of work to add the title, so it wasn't there right away. Glad I found it.
Wow, one success last night and one tonight. The owner of this site (AMHD) should buy me a hot fudge sundae.
