This is called TMJ. It is a problem with the jaw often caused by clenching your jaw in your sleep or grinding your teeth. It can also cause "lock-jaw" in the future if it is not taken care of. For example, if it is not taken care of, you could open your mouth too far and then it will get stuck and for a few seconds, you will not be able to close your mouth. To fix it, dentists used to give patients a mouth guard to help ease the pressure on the jaw from clenched teeth at night. You would only have to wear the mouthpiece in your sleep. See your dentist just to make sure, though.

I'd talk to your dentist.
