I have a Dell computer and want to hook up a Linksys EA4500 router so as to be able to use a laptop from another room.I have windows on both computer and laptop. When I try to install the Linksys to the laptop it says I need the internet to complete, this is where I get lost.I'm not computer smart but learning as I go.Any help would be greatly welcomed.

Thank you.

You don't hook up a router to a computer, you hook up a computer to a router. But first you have to hook up your router to your Internet connection.

How do you connect to the net? Cable, DSL etc.

You don't have to install the software for the router to just work perfectly.

Your IP address on both computers has to be set to automatic.
The router will assign one to each computer.

The Router's IP is 192.168.1.1 (user/pass is admin/admin) if you want to tinker.
Open the internet browser and type http://192.168.1.1 then press enter to access the router.

Hope this helps.
