I went outside this morning and a cat was sitting behind my neighbors car. As soon as she saw me she walked up and was wanting to rub against me but since I a stranger to her she would only get close but not touch. She follows me everywhere outside and she has known me for about 12 hrs. She looks either pregnant or just given birth. She has a tummy that is low to the ground, like the skin almost touches the ground. When she lays on her side her nipples are clearly visible. I don't know if because she got pregnant, her owners kicked her out or if she has already had them. I will say that she is very talkative, always meowing, does that mean she is in heat but previously had kittens. I don't want to touch her because she barely knows me and I don't want to get bit. She looks much wider around the ribs than a normal cat. I cannot bring her in because I have a 5 month old baby and I could possibly be pregnant again and do not want her in close contact to me because of toxoplasmosis. Is there an easy way to tell if she is pregnant/recently given birth/in heat without me touching her. BTW I had such a guilty heart when I thought she was pregnant I fed her and gave her water but she seems disinterested.
