I have a two year old son who talks and understands very well. He knows how to say everyone's name and everything. The only situation is he doesn't call me mommy he calls me by my name. I absolutely understand that some parents don't mind their kids calling them by their name but my mother didn't raise me that way.

He calls his grandmother on his dads side mom and that's only because he hears his father saying it all the time and my son is over there a lot. I really want him to start calling me mommy I just don't know how to. Do I wait till he's older? Or do I correct him now?

I tested it out already, and my sister asked my son where's mommy and he pointed directly at me, so he does know who mommy is, he just doesn't call me mommy.

Don't correct him. Use your name "Mommy" when you talk with him, "Mommy and Billy are going to have lunch now. Do you want a pb&j sandwich or some ham and cheese?" or "Mommy wants you to put shoes on now. We're going to the mall to buy a new pair of pants for Mommy. We will buy something for Billy too." When you say "Mommy," point to yourself and then point to him when you say his name.

He's only two and is still learning who is who and what is what. He'll be fine.
