I just purchased a kohler memoirs toilet (12 in), I installed it to my 12" rough-in opening and i end up with a 2" gap between the wall and the tank, wondering why?

Hi Lsoto
Kohler toilets are famous for this. Here, kohler's own specification sheet will show you a 12" rough in with the toilet tank having only 1/2-1" gap between the finished wall and the back of the toilet tank. As you have learned, what is shown on the specification sheet is not always what you get.
Anyway, there is nothing you can do about it and functionally speaking there is no issue.
In the future, when you go to purchase another toilet go to a place with a showroom and measure the toilets to see what will fit best... do not go by specs. Anymore!

Hm, I just bought a Kohler toilet too... I guess I don't care.
