I have recurrent boils. I have had them
Since last November (2012). They started on my
Buttocks. I was treated in march 2013. They left
For a month but then started coming back. I was
Treated again in July. Both times I was prescribed
Keflex. This time a day after my 10 day course of keflex
Another painful boil returned on my buttocks. My doctor
Suggested low dose antibiotics taken daily. However,
I'm unsure of how taking antibiotics daily will affect my immune
System in the long run. I'm frustrated that it has been a year and
I'm still dealing with painful boils. There has never been a c&s done
They assume its MSSA.

Low dose, or even a regular dose of antibiotics will have no effect on your immune system. Getting the boils does not mean you immune system is compromised unless you have an auto immune disease like diabetes.

I think you mean MRSA, not MSSA.

Your doctor needs to lance these boils and do a culture and sensitivity on it to find out what antibiotic it is resistant to and what antibiotic will eradicate it from your system.

Keflex is not typically used for MRSA, but rather big guns like Vancomycin or Gentomycin, for example.

MSSA- methicillin sensitive staph aureus is what I mean. It is not being streaming as resistant. I guess I could try the low dose and he said it would be clindamycin. I don't want to have to depend on antibiotics for long term but I will have to deal with it
