Hi
My mother was born in Bombay but brought up in Goa, she then married my dad who was born and brought up in Goa, he was born before the 1961,he expired 6 years a go.Now I wanted to apply for the Portuguese passport and I am trying to trace my mothers birth certificate in goa in the mean time I wanted to know if my dads birth, marriage and death certificate could help me in anyway for the documentation instead of my mother's ,I would also like to know how long does the procedure take to complete of having a Portuguese passport and whether can I apply directly for it or do I get it for my mother first and then me .

Thanking you in anticipation.

Since your mother is born in Bombay, she is not eligible to apply for Portuguese Nationality. However, as your Dad is born in Goa you can apply on his behalf. You have to produce a certificate from the Panchayat from Goa or from the Municipal Councilor in Bombay that your Dad was a resident of so & so address before his death. Also there are other documents to be made. You can go to this website http://www.consuladoportugalgoa.com for more information.

Best wishes,
