Which version of java for windows vista

You can use Java version:- 6.0, 7.0 for vista. Download java software from here (http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp)

What are you trying to do. Java should push out the correct version for the OS.

When I try to update my current version with the suggested version, it never successfully completes the installation.. I think my OS is just too old to update properly
