You have to choose the word that you want people to use. 'Down' and 'off' are two common words used for the command.

To get him to stop jumping, do not give him attention when he jumps. Give him the command, cross your arms, stand up straight, chin up and if needed turn away from him when he jumps. When he is calmer such as sitting a your feet, calmly pet him and give him praise or a small treat. You do not want to excite him into jumping up again.

Do not yell, swat at him or try to push him away. He will see those actions as play and increase the jumping. Becoming a statue takes away the attention he is seeking.

If he continues to jump, you may need to put him in a 'time out'. Have a pen or room where you can safely put him for a minute or two. Let him out when he is calm.

Obedience training can help a lot in stopping undesired behaviors. Teaching such behaviors as focusing on you (or the person working with him) for his 'orders' can help him channel his energy into positive ways.

Make certain he has plenty of exercise both physical and mental. It will help keep him calmer at other times.
