Hi Im looking for the name to a movie, friends and family that I've asked have looked at me with blank expressions but seeing as my imagination is nowhere near good enough to create the entire plot to a film in my head I'm sure it's a real film!

We're talking an older movie, possibly from around the generation of 'Its a mad, mad, mad, mad world' and 'Monte Carlo or bust' so 60's era and in the same mad-cap crazy comedy styling thou the age isn't for definite...
The plot to the movie is a crazy treasure hunt type deal with individuals/groups of all ages/genders and backgrounds trying to collect a list of strange and wonderful items and return them 1st to win (im guessing here) maybe a cash prize or something...

All I can remember of this movie is the different storylines involved in gathering the items on the list, but I have a vivid memory of the end of the movie taking place in a giant field/mansion garden with big white outlined areas drawn on the grass for the teams to place all their items in and a race to the finish?!

Please, please, PLEASE tell me that I'm not imagining this and that someone else has a memory of it or can better still tell me the name of it, its plaguing me now!

Thanks in advance...

This is much later than your estimate, but I'll give it a try.

Scavenger Hunt (1979)
Wikipedia synopsis:
Milton Parker (Vincent Price), an elderly and eccentric game inventor, dies after losing a video game with his seductive nurse (Carol Wayne). Following his funeral, Parker's greedy and estranged relatives show up at his mansion for the reading of his will. They learn from lawyer Charles Bernstein (Robert Morley) that the winner of an elaborate scavenger hunt will inherit his $200 million estate. The (potential) beneficiaries form five teams and get involved in various misadventures.
Each group is given five lists containing clues to acquire 100 items with various point values ranging from five to 100 points. The items are to be acquired by any means necessary, with the exception of being purchased. They are to be placed in five different pens on the grounds of the estate. The winner of the scavenger hunt will be the person or team to acquire the most points by 5 p.m. that day.

YESSS!!!!!! This is the one!!! Thanks so much, this has been driving me crazy!! THANK YOU!

You're very welcome! I knew a number of films would be too recent; so, I figured that, unless it was one I hadn't seen or read about, this could be a possibility. Hooray!

Happy movie-watching!
