My 3 year old daughter has been really scared these last few days because of a 'spirit' named odah. (Pronounced o-dah) she will be fine walking down the hall and glances in the kitchen and screams and runs and says he's back he's back and starts crying. She describes him as scary and mean and a boy. While eating dinner she turned sideways on her chair and said I'm going to put my feet here because odah goes under the table and grabs them. Sometimes we feel a heavy, uneasy feeling in the night and footsteps. My husband sees dark shadow figures pass by as well. My husband asked her why the spirit was here and she said "because he wants me". We haven't given her too much attention over this and sometimes I just say odah needs to leave now I don't want hear about it. I don't want to encourage it and rather see if she keeps bringing it up (which she does and always the same spots he's in the kitchen and bedroom. Which is interesting since my husband always sees that shadow figure go between those rooms) any advice on how to handle it? I've already saged the house and taught her a prayer to pray to Jesus Christ for protection.

If a 3 year old did not have something imaginary, it would be more of a worry, they will have friends, and things they are scared of.

I am confused, using Sage ( form of magic) is against Christian principles and really just weaken any signs of religious faith. If you can not trust Christ to do this, do not waste your time calling on him.

When I was that age, I had to jump into my bed from a throw rug next to it and not touch the wooden floor or the evil spirit under my bed would reach out and grab my ankles. My imaginary friend (who was very real to me), AngelWolf, protected me and helped me jump.

When my sister was that age, she had to have her closet door closed tightly before she would go to sleep, or the wicked thing inside would get her during the night.

It's time to get out the special monster spray bottle and go after odah.

I completely agree with and understand why Fr_Chuck offers such advice. However on the flipside of that I do believe that spirits quite actively target young children. Whether something is really going on in your home we of course cannot say for sure one way or the other.

I am definitely backing Fr_Chucks comment about burning sage. Either Christ has the power (which He does) to deal with the situation or He doesn't. He doesn't need sage to move things along... a practice that has come out of several spiritist people groups and has NO place in a Christian home. The other thing I would like to address is that not once are we taught in scripture to deal with an unwanted spirit by praying a prayer of protection. In my years of experience I will tell you now that a prayer like this will not be answered. Christ gave His authority (in His name) to His church.

If you consider yourself a truly Christian home... the best thing that you can do right now would be to contact a spiritually mature individual (usually a pastor or priest) that should come to the home and prayer over it and your child. In a situation such as this your typical praying and blessing isn't what you need. If a spirit is in the home, it needs to be told how and why it has to leave and then it needs to be cast out.

Your husband and you feel the same presence. Do not discourage het but don't ask her for details to the point she feels she has to fill in the gaps with imagination. If it is not a ghost, I am thinking it may more likely be shadow people.

Maybe my sister and I had the advantage -- our father was a Lutheran pastor. I don't remember his ever doing so but knowing how he was in that he wanted the best for his family, I'm guessing he said a prayer or two with us.

And yes, I agree, it could be a "ghost" or spirit of some type, but sage is not gong to do anything but smell up the house.

Add some roasted turkey and some stuffing, and it will smell like Thanksgiving.

Sage is used by mediums that the Bible warns against consulting. Not many preachers or priests do exorcism. Whoever you get make sure they have a good spirit. The only real exorcisms I have really seen that worked were done by radical spirit filled Christians and they quoted scriptures. A real exorcism can last hours and drain you completely.
