I just recently found out that I am 3 weeks pregnant. I went to the doctor yesterday and got an ultrasound. They didn't expect to see anything because I was so early but they decided to go through with it just in case. Anyway, they used the catheter first and it hurt real bad when it went in. they didn't see anything so they took the catheter out used the other technique of inserting the long stick looking thing. They didn't see anything that way either. The doctor told me if I start bleeding or have real back stomach pain to come back immediately. After the ultra sound, every time I peed I got a read bad burning sensation. This morning I peed and yet again more burning BUT this time when I wiped I saw some blood on the tissue. Not a lot just about two quarter sizes worth and some spots. My friend told me it could have been because of the catheter but I'm scared of the possibility of a miscarriage although I don't have any of the other signs of a miscarriage. Can anyone help?

At 3 weeks virtually nothing will be found on an ultrasound whether it is abdominal or transvaginal. Typically nothing will be seen until around the 9th week on ultrasound.

Spotting can be normal since the cervix is highly vascular and has been manipulated by the ultrasound.

What you need to watch for is bright red period like blood accompanied with cramping. If all else fails, call your doctor for further advice.

Why did they wish to do one so early ? Did you keep asking them for it?

It is normal not to find anything this early. And no it does not sound like anything wrong at this point
