Brown discharge could be your first period. I really can't tell you if it is or not though. If it's a lot, then it's likely your first period, it could turn to red in a day or so. Tell your mom about it.

Well suck it up because if you have something that needs a doctor.. or a pregnancy... she's going to find out sooner or later anyway.

If you are just starting to have your period... you NEED to talk to your mother... because there are things you are going to be needing she will have to buy... and you will need to start going to a gynecologist.

Look at it as an annual physical for your woman parts. A gynecologist is a specialist.
