Hi,
My German stepfather adopted me when I was very young. Unfortunately, german passport was never applied for ( I am from asia). I am now 26 and would like to apply for the same. I have all the documents (adoption papers etc) needed but would like to know if I am still eligible given my age and if it is at all possible.
Thanks!

Age is no barrier to your ability to apply for a German passport, with proper documentation, but your place of residence may be. Do you presently live in Germany?

You may run into roadblocks because you are adopted. Most people applying for German passport are living in Germany and speak fluent German, but have to prove both parents were German citizens at the time of their birth. Can you prove your patents were? Also, you have not had permanent residency for a number of years?

No I have never actually lived in Germany. My father is German by blood and citizenship, I have birth certificate and passport copy so I am hoping it will be enough..

You can try, but requirements are both parents born in Germany.

Also... a Passport won't be given until and unless you can prove you actually have German citizenship first... so first things first.
