I wear my BT headphones while walking. I have put my Android phone in a pouch around my waist. My headphones appear to have the sound cut out when I turn my head a certain way and/or my arm/hands come between my Android phone and my head set. Is this normal functioning a blue tooth device?

I had this same problem with a BT headset I had and my Android phone was in my pocket. Whenver I took it out of my pocket it worked fine. Bluetooth is a great wireless alternative, but the range is very short, and it's based on line of sight so if there is anything in the way (i.e. a wall, or in your case a pouch on your waist) the connection can be temporarily interupted causing the sound to cut out. So yes this is a common occurrence with BT devices. My suggestion would be to get an arm band for your phone and see if that's any better.
