Hi, I'm 19 and I've been experiencing period-like pains for a couple of days now. I had sex 4 days ago around the 17th day of my cycle. We used protection but.the condom split completely and I'm not on any other form of birth control. I feel dizzy and lightheaded/faint every now and then and feel sick at some point every day. Yesterday I felt sick after I'd eaten but now I'm hungry a lot. I've been peeing a lot more frequently and get mild headaches every now and then. Usually before my period starts I get cramps for about 3 days but nothing like this. I have all these other symptoms and my period is due in about a week. Could I be pregnant?

None of those symptoms are pregnancy related... they can all be attributed to a number of other things.

You are going to have to wait until you are two weeks late for your period... then take a test right after you wakeup... the first time you pee in the morning.

Taking a test earlier will likely result in a false negtive.

Oh... and tell him to stop carrying a condom in his wallet or car... heat damages them.

I can take a condom... stretch it over my head... the one on my shoulders and inflate it several feet long without it breaking.

Condoms if they break during use... have been mishandled.

Lots of possible reasons... but worrying about being pregnant alone can do it...

Plus lots of women have a mistaken believe there are certain symptoms... and if you want something or fear it enough... you can think you see them.

There aren't any real symptoms for the first few months except a missed period... or if you are one of the few women like Princess Kate that suffer from debilitating morning sickness... but you won't even get that the first few weeks. Most women never do.

How is it explained... the Power of suggestion... or the Placebo effect... where people in drug tests are told to expect certain side efects... but half the group is given the real thing and half a sugar pill. (nobody knows which they got).. but people taking the placebo believing they are getting the same side effects.
