I'm told I have a gift. A gift that I'm lucky to have... I sing. But every I get close to proving it, it gets pushed aside. My grandma said I have a beautiful voice. I would always stay home from school. Just to sing my heart out. But then one day I asked my mom if I could go on America's got talent. She said doing what? Singing. You would probably barely make it past the auditions. You see me and my mom aren't very close until she saw I was depressed. I'm trying to convince her to let me go to a magnet school nearby. But don't know how to convince her.

Well I'm not sure what your actual question is but I will say you should let a chior director decide if you should go to Americas got talent or nashville star or american idol. If there are magnet schools local and if your parents are in the financial status let them know you really care and will take not only your singing but your education very seriously. Let them know the motivation it will give you. Is the magnet school a singing magnet school or what? What is your purpose for going to one? How old are you if you don't mind me asking.

Staying home from school to sing is immature and irresponsible. I know that sounds stuffy and old, but it's true. If you were my child and could sing, I'd take you to the moon and stars to compete, but only if you acted like a young adult - that means studying hard, doing chores, and showing some good sense.
You probably haven't seen all the thousands of people who lose on America's Got Talent, whether it's in the first round or second or third or how ever many there are before you get seen on TV, and even then, countless of them lose. It costs MONEY to get there and stay in a hotel, plus an adult has to go too.
It's good to dream. But dreams of a magnet school and a singing career have to be in ADDITION to reality. For the school, you talk to teachers, plain and simple. The teachers talk to administrators, and so on.
For the singing, you put a 3 minute song on Youtube. You sing locally, at church or school plays or standing in front of a supermarket. You put on a musical or talent show in your neighborhood. You work, work, work. Maybe someone will sponsor you to get to TV. You don't just sit there waiting for it.

So, then you are taking voice lessons, and have a voice coach, you are learning breath control and tone and pitch. You are learning to read music and know music theory?
There are 1,000,000s of people with pretty and great voices, it takes someone with some training to become a musican.
