I just got my braces yesterday and they put all the brackets in on my teeth. But after they didn't give me a wire. Is that supposed to happen? I asked my orthodontist why I don't have the wire and he just said I'm not getting one?

Often you won't get a wire until the next appointment. Putting the brackets on will not move your teeth unless there is a wire. When is your next appointment?

My next appointment is tomorrow. I even called my friend on the phone and she said its weird how I didn't get a wire. Most of my friends have braces and they all got a wire the same time they got braces. So I kind of feel a little left out. Well not emotionally like it doesn't hurt my feelings or anything it just makes me feel different.

Something you will learn... nothing happens ALL of the time... there are always exceptions, particularly when people and medical stuff is concerned. And we don't know the reasoning your Dentist had.

You will probably get your wire tomorrow. My orthodontist never puts wires on kiddos the first day. It helps keep the pain level down.

Don't worry about the wire. Your ortho knows what they are doing. Don't sweat the little stuff. Worry about the big stuff and you have plenty of time for, that!
