View Full Version : Neutral wood or stay dark?

Hey all, my question is all about neutral décor.
My mum is planning to move house soon, and her taste has always been in mahogany furniature and painting all woodwork dark.
I've been explaining to her that these are her tastes and that I personally feel painting the woodwork a neutral colour will enhance the space and work in her favour.
I just wanted to ask if anyone has viewed a house with dark woodwork, what your views are.
And also just wanted to ask members if it's a good idea to paint the wood white or a neutral shade.
My thinking is that it must surely help enhance space and make it feel more lighter?
And generally more welcoming to new buyers!

Any answers would be great, just so I can convince my mum to ditch the dark wood for lighter shades.
Thanks all!

If It's the natural wood mohagany id leave it be. If Its painted id atrio it to the natural wood. If the natural wood is light id just do clear varnish. I like mohagany for Its deep rich shade in a bedroom. For other rooms I prefer a light cherry wood because it brings out the décor.
