View Full Version : 2-wire thermostat to wifi control

I want to install a new thermostate, which will be wifi enabled. Before I uninstall the existing I want to understand the current wiring. We only have a heating system, without heat pump, I would have expected the red power cable connecting to RH, the jumper between RC and RH may be factory installed. W is obviously the heating connection.
Why is red connected to B (common? ), why is there no incoming connection to any of the Rs?
Or is this how it works for a 2-wire system?
Can I use the red wire to power the intended wifi thermostate?
Thank you for any help here.
