I am writing for my fiancé,this child support is out control,he's a disabled vet living on ssd and pays over $400 a month in child support?we are in ny state,how can we emancipaten this 10yr old and stop the child support?
Hope you can help us.

No you can not do it. They child would have to be self supportive AND both legal parents would have to agree on it. If you think he is paying too much then take it to court. Also is the child receiving SSD through his dad?

I had my kids on my x's disability. Why hasn't he applied for that?

Shame on you! Your fiancée fathered this child and he has an obligation to support him. If he can't afford it, then he goes back to court to try and get the support reduced.

How would you fell if he tried to abandon a child you had together?

What a poor excuse for a father,

He can not, and I am glad, he can, go to court and be sure, that the chlld support is based on current income. Also child should be receiving money though disablity
