Does anyone have any firsthand experience or information regarding ceramic sinks? I've heard they can be more fragile, but if you buy quality I've heard their terrific pieces. Thanks!

Quality or not... if you are in the habit of tossing in pots and pans etc... you are going to chip and scratch them... simple fact Ceramic isn't flexible... while strong its actually brittle.

They are less durable than stainless steel for that reason...

I have to agree. Lovely look but but not good for a busy kitchen!

This dude has bath in his ID, so I'm going out on a limb here and guessing that he means 'basin.' For some reason the term for sink in a bathroom is basin.
I think ceramic in a bathroom is fine. Although I'm not sure if I can tell the difference between porcelain and ceramic.

I call the sink in my bathroom a sink. Toilets are made of porcelain. Ceramic is usually quite elaborate and is fired with designs and colours. Don't think that would be in a kitchen.

I call mine a sink too... and I agree about ceramics in general... ergo, he must be talking about his bathroom. Where it doesn't matter.

Indeed I was talking about the bathroom! Sorry about the confusion, but great responses. We really like the ceramic look and as long as were not to harsh on it with our toothbrushes looks like we should be fine. Thanks!

With that clarification.. Ceramic in the bathroom should be perfectly fine.
