My 21 year old son still lives with me.I have raised him alone for 12 years. I struggle to pay bills while he works and spends his money as he pleases. I pay his cell bill. Sometimes I fall short and ask to borrow money for rent. He gets very angry if he has to contribute to any bills since his 18 year old brother is heading for a full paid scholarship college in the fall does not have to contribute. I have told him when his brother gets 21 he will have to take over his phone bill too. He has gotten very verbally abusive toward me ,calling me a sorry mom among other names. I am tired of all the fussing and fighting. His father hasn't been around for 10 years but his parents still pay both their car insurance and bought them their first vehicle. It has come to the point I am afraid for my safety if he does not get his way. Any suggestions.

Draw up a lease and give it to him to sign. Tell him either he signs the lease and starts paying rent or he finds his own place.

You are being used... you pay his cell phone bill? Why? Tell him you're not doing that anymore. If he becomes abusive, call the police. You can't keep living like that.

I suspect they have a family plan where they pay a monthly sum for x number of lines.

I have that too but I have figured out how much it costs per line and my daughter pays me for her portion.
