I am 12 and a half, and I still wear a training bra. Almost all my friends wear a cup bra and my training bras are too tight and I don't feel very comfortable with them. I wear sports bra sometimes but they are itchy too. I need a cup bra but I am too shy to tell my mom.

How to tell my mom I need a cup bra?

Why, All women have breasts and wear bra's, bra's are on public display at stores,

She had to get her first bra. If you are really ready, it will or should be obvious by looking, she may just not know.

You just talk to her, there will be much more personal things you will talk to her about as you mature, you need to be able to tell mom anything

I can't talk to her easily but is it a problem if I ask her this question to the store?

It is just a piece of clothing, do you have trouble telling her your pants are too tight, or your shirts do not fit and you need a larger size ?

It is not a problem about pants or shirts but bras are different.and I think my mom won't understand me but thanks for your answer.

Just let your mother know that your current bras are not fitting correctly. Since bras are worn under other clothing it is easy for a parent to not notice when their daughter needs a new one.

Treat the subject of bras like you would shoes. You are growing and, whether you need a bra with cups or not, you may be needing one with a larger band and/or longer shoulder straps.

Be honest that you would like one with cups, but be prepared to accept a bra that fits even if it isn't what your friends are wearing.

Good luck.

Thank you but do you think it is proper to tell her when we go to a store where there are sold too many things such as toys, clothes, bras etc.I come from europe and I kinde use another expresion for bras with my mom so I can't be too emberrased. But I hope sh will understand I need a bra with cups cause she thinks I don't have a lot of breast.I don't wear even a swimwear with cups.but thanks for your comment.

My mom was the same way she made me uncomfortable about what she had raised me to think of as adult things. From deodorant, to bras, to boyfriends. Anyway, just tell her you need to go shopping, or when in store, because its getting too tight on you. Then when she starts helping you pick out training bras tell her they just don't feel right and pick up one that you think is more appropriate that is around your size (not some 36 size) and say you think this style might be more comfortable

You should talk to her about how you feel about your sport bras and show her the marks that are left after you take your bra off if she says no talk to your grandma or aunt tell them they should be able to say yes

You are THAT big and still in a training bra?
Or are you talking about the cupless bras that really aren't training bras?
At any rate, if you are having any problems with your bras yes you need to tell your mom that the style you wear isn't working for you and go pick out what you feel you will be more comfortable with. I know Wal Mart has some reasonably priced bras that would cost $20. In any other store.

Yes that is what I was saying you should ask her to go to the store with you or whenever you go with her again when she is going. Get her in the store.

K then you look for the style you are thinking and pick up a couple before your mom has a chance to start picking them out for you. Then tell her those ones she is picking are not comfortable,

I guess her training bra is that size. She may need a bigger size and that could be one of her problems,

I have a silly question.

Your username is "cupwanter". That implies that you want, don't need, a cupped bra.

How did you determine that you're a b cup? You stated that you measured. What source did you use to determine your cup size after you measured?

We get a lot of questions like yours. Most of the posters don't need a bra, they want one because all their friends have one. Is that the case here?

Well, I suffered the same. My mom didn't even noticed that I really needed a bra when I was 12. I'm 16 now and I'm still uncomfortable with my mom on the issues like bra's and periods. I just went shopping and picked up bra's for myself because I knew my mom's never going to speak that so easily to me :/ Go shopping, pick up the right ones :)

Yaaay i asked my mom and she said yes.she will buy me whatever i want

Haha... well you have done it for yourself :) cool!

i want and need a cup bra.i measured myself eith a meter.and

What type of meter? The only way I know of to tell cup size, is to try on bras of different cup sizes to see what fits best. You can measure the size of your chest, that's easy, But cup size is a different matter.

Yaaay i asked my mom and she said yes.she will buy me whatever i want

See was that so hard? Remember your mom went through the same thing when she was your age. So she understands. Unless she sees you in the bras you currently wear, she isn't going to know that you are outgrowing what you have unless you tell her.

Well when I go shopping with my mom and my family I go in a department store where da and my brother stays outside and I can buy them with mom and they won't know anything about them unless my mom tells them.I hope she will buy me the cup bras I wanted and I will directly tell you guys

To scottgem I measured with a meter that you measur a part of the body because I do not know how its called

Hmm, I just did some research and while there are methods to approximate what cup size you are (like here Bra Fitting - How to Measure Bra Size (http://www.herroom.com/bra-fitting-advice,901,30.html)), I couldn't find anything about a meter to do so.

So basically, don't go by whatever you used to measure, its probably not accurate. When mom takes you to the store, try on several sizes to see what fits. Also, as far as I know, cup sizes vary by manufacturer and style. So you might need a B for one style but an A for a different style.

You can get a reasonable sense of the measurement of the bra, but the cup is tricky. Measure around your ribcage, under your breasts, to determine the size of the bra (32, 38, etc) but the cup will pretty much be trial and error, finding one that fits.

I hate bra shopping. I'm a 32F, so I can't go to a department store to buy a bra. Most specialty shops don't even have my size, I usually end up having to get a larger bra (36 or 38) and then doing alterations. My bras, on sale, cost around $100 each. :(

Don't be too eager to get bigger. I'd kill to be a B cup. :)

I'm 42. When I was your age I had no breasts to speak of, didn't even need a training bra. Before I had kids I was a B cup. My breasts grew after each pregnancy, and they still seem to be growing. :(

I remember when I was your age I watched a movie with Dolly Parton in it. Not sure if you know who she is, she's a bit before your time, but she's known for her huge breasts. I saw her, and I was scared to death. I used to go to bed every night praying that I'd never be as big as her.

I'm actually going to be talking to my doctor about a breast reduction, that's how much they bother me.
