My sister has a 19 yr old daughter living in her condo in Florida paying no rent. She is mentally abusive to my sister who is very fragile health wise & emotionally, suffers from depression. This girl screams at her, won't clean her room or help out in any way, brings friends in at all hours even though my sister has insisted that she doesn't want anyone in her condo. She kind of knows her rights & even though my sister has called the police on her several times, they do nothing.

Your sister needs to have her daughter served with a written eviction notice... in Fl that is 15 days... if she doesn't leave in 15 days she goes to court and has the eviction enforced... thats when the Sherrifs office comes out and physically puts them and their property out at the curb.

Family or not... the process is the same... since she has no written lease that's unexpired... its considered month to month.. and Fl requires a 15 day notice.

An ADULT child is no different. And on her 18th birthday she is an adult and your sister has no legal requirement to house or support her.

Yes, the police do nothing since it is not a police matter. She gives her a written notice to move out (eviction notice) if girl does not move, she takes it to housing court and gets a order of eviction to have her removed. *** then she has to not let her back in.

She is treated just like anyone else. Being family makes no difference
