We replaced the kitchen counter with granite, added a new stainless steel sink and a new pull-down faucet. There is NOW a persistent smell in the cupboard under the sink. It is almost acrid and gives a headache and makes one cough.

We have fixed the pinhole leak in the pipe, changed the new faucet to one that has stainless steel hoses. Washed the area with vinegar and repainted the whole area. Taped up any holes.

NOTHING WORKS. My women friends ALL can smell this and it is awful to be in the kitchen for any length of time. NONE of the men can smell this.

I would appreciate ANY HELP. Thank you in advance,

Lily

Could be the silicone sealant used to mount the sink and /or polyester resin used to fill in the granite joints. Either one will go away although it sounds like you are particularly sensitive if none of the men can smell it.
