Hello

I am a 40 y/o female with a 4 year history of strange symptoms. I have wondered if I am perimenopausal. My grandmother was an early menopause case. Long story short, my GP had me do a home finger prick test on day 19 of my cycle to test hormones. My Estrogen says 32 (lab normal is 43-180) and my testosterone is less than 10 (lab norm of 20-130). I know hormones shift all month long but my doc wants me to come in to talk meds. I was wanting some professional/educated input on what this truly means. I am suffering from fatigue, low stress tolerance, warm flushes, heart palpitations that can be severe, weak feeling and heat intolerance (along with other bothersome symptoms). I have become half a person and that's hard since I am in school to get my Nurse Practitioner. :(
Thanks.

Forty seems young for menopause, although genetics play a significant level in this life cycle. Hormone levels at menopause time jump all over the map.

Your symptoms are really in line for menopause, but so are a lot of other women at this time in their life.

We can't diagnose for you on the internet; however, I sailed through menopause at 55 and that was right in line with my mom and grandmother; doctor at that time 25 years ago suggested HRT, I said no because tests suggested heart disease and a lot of other downsides going on that medication.

Have a good discussion with your doctor about menopause; it is a release for women, a freedom from some restrictions and embracing that freedom.

Congratulations on your chosen field, I have a respect for Nurse Practitioners in my line of work.
