If you owe the money... you can assume there is one.

The Banks won't tell you and they aren't required to.

In Texas, I have a checking account into which I want to deposit a fairly large check. How can I find out if the account is subject to garnishment for child support.

This site allows only ONE post per question... since you already have one which was answered.. I am reporting this to the mods to be dealt with.

No one can withdraw money from your acct without your authorization and agreement with the court.

Actually... only the courts order is needed... Its like a Writ of Garnishment. The account owner doesn't have to be told (and never are) and they don't get asked. THey usually find out after the funds are taken.

If he owes child support they can even garnish his paychecks, and tax returns... as well as seize money from bank accounts. But again... that would all be AFTER the court ruled. Those however are usually the last actions taken if they aren't paying, not the first.

The spouse alone could not do it. Heck... in some states... like where I live... he could be jailed for not paying it. Draconian... yes.

Texas is pretty good about putting people who are behind with child support in jail.

If there is a garnishment on your account they will get any money put in.
If you owe support, you need to make arrangements to start paying
