Does the 6' rule for GFCI protection at sink areas also pertain to outlets in a healthcare facility lab area as well?

Be careful of the "words" you use when it comes to health care facility...
If you are talking about a "lab" where patients would normally never be, then yes the six foot rule applies. Don't you agree?
What you may have heard (or read), is that GFCI receptacle is not required in a patient room where there is a toilet and basin. See NEC 517.21.

does the 6' rule for GFCI protection at sink areas also pertain to outlets in a healthcare facility lab area as well?My first question is why are you asking?
Anyone doing an installation like this would certainly know the answer, or they should not be doing the work. Why do you ask?
And what 6' rule are you talking about? Do you have a code citation?
