Received my estimate back from my builder to add a whole house fan in my new home. $1400.00? By the looks of estimates online, this seems a bit high even with a high quality fan. Any help?

We have no idea as to the quality of the fan, 1 speed or 2, what wiring may be necessary, louver system, include a thermostat, timer circuit, whether it has a winter cover, etc. On line they run from about $200 to $500 plus install. In the pre-construction phase, $1400 sounds high considering the time but if the ceiling is closed, that's another matter.
