I'm about to sound like a big baby but at this point I don't care.
This Wednesday I'm getting my wisdom teeth out (all 4). From what my oral surgeon told me I think I'll be getting the general anesthesia and I'll be completely knocked out during the procedure.
I absolutely hate needles and just the thought of getting an IV makes me freak out. Does the IV hurt that bad? How was your experience getting your wisdom teeth taken out? I've never gone through anything like this before so I have no idea what to expect.

I put IVs in all the time. Funny thing is that the people who are most afraid of them have tattoos all over them. Sheesh.

It only hurts for a minute when the needle goes in. Remember that the needle doesn't stay in your arm, it's only there for a minute to guide the catheter in.

I chose to have my wisdom teeth pulled out with local anesthesia. Bad idea! Both of my sons had general anesthesia. The IV was placed after the oral surgeon administered an inhaled sedative, so they never felt any pain. You should call your oral surgeon to get some reassurance so you won't worry so much. We were told exactly what would happen before we arrived for the procedure at a pre-OP appointment. Good luck and let us know how easy it all turned out to be :).

"Your dentist will provide you antibiotics to help heal the infection. So, don’t worry. You will be in expert vision."

What?

I absolutely love IVs, they ask you to count back from 10 and I don't even get to 8! Best nap I ever have!

As long as you follow all instructions after surgery you will have no diffucuty
