My employers human resource rep shared health information about to staff both some accurate and some non accurate. I was completely upset and felt extremely violated. He not only share some of my health information with staff but also added his own opinion of diagnosis to my health condition in which he was way out of line.

Ok, so what do you want to do about it? It certainly sounds like he violated ethical behavior. So you report it to his supervisors. Unfortunately, there were no laws violated.

This may have been poor behavior but it isn't a government violation under HIPAA or any labor laws. Employers are not only allowed to know about and discuss the health of employees, they are often required to do so by their liability insurers. An employee could be endangering the workplace (customers), other employees (contagion, emotional outbursts or violence), and him or herself in regards to safety measures in buildings (tripping, fainting). There are others.

What you should do is gather your thoughts and talk to both the HR rep and your immediate boss together. Try to keep it as short as possible, and stay calm.
