I am a certified phlebotomist (vampire) for about 5 months now. I work at my local hospital part time with benefits. I replaced a employee who left for another job. She was gone for about 3 weeks, she quit that job came back to her same job at the hospital. Now the lab director is telling me that my part time job with benefits will be terminated due to budget cuts in the lab; eventho she is part time with no benefits. My final day will be April 8, 2007. I have searched nearby hospitals in the next town and doctor's offices as well ; nothing seems to be available at this time. I went through months of schooling to train for this type of work. I feel let down and disappointed. If feel they have done me wrong, because they would rather let this female employee work instead of me; and she is too friendly with the lab staff. She lays out of work when she wants and nobody seems to mind. I just can't figure out what to do next. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks, jam43

Not sure why you shared your vampire info unless you think they are trying to get rid of you because of it. Sounds like you were an at will employee and have no recourse, they can release you without cause. Maybe you'd be interested in the job the other person quit after 3 weeks?

LMAO -- I think the vampire line was what people would refer to as a inside joke --she draws blood.--Savage

LMAO ballenger!!
I believe they are getting rid of you because you do in fact have the benefits and she does not. The benefits can be a little on the pricey side. So they are saving money by keeping her on without benefits. It is all about the money.
