I have been served. My ex wife is asking for sole custody, supervised visits and basically telling lies about me to get it. I have documents to prove every allegation is false. I am unemployed and can't afford attorney. Can someone please advise my next step? Thank you!

You check with the court about how to present your evidence. You may need to submit it to the judge before a hearing. You also have to counter what she is asking for with your own request for custody.

But I can tell you that if she has an attorney and you don't your chances are noting going to be great. A good lawyer will know how suppress your evidence.

Also, if she is filing, you may be able to get her to pay your court costs, so you should at least consult with some attorneys. You may be able to make arrangements.

What ScottGem said.

And you had better file an answer with the court. Read the summons with which you were served, but normally it would be 20 days or so. Don't file one, and you can be defaulted, which would mean that you would not have the right to prove anything to the court.
