Can I buy a 240 volt, 3 prong, tamper resistant receptacle? If so, where would I find one?

Do you need only 240 V or will the device you plug in require a Neutral so that you will also have 120 V available for the device?

You can go to just about any Lowe's, Home Depot, Ace and look for the "Nema" receptacle you are needing. I suspect that you want a locking receptacle so that you cable can not be just unplugged.

If you mean, "Tamper Free" with respect to the child protection, I do not believe that you can get that with a 240 volt receptacle. But, I cannot swear to that

donf: Thank you very much for your quick response. The device I am plugging in does not need a Neutral. I have purchased a receptacle but the gentalman doing my work said in order to pass code I needed a tamper free receptacle. I have been to both Lowe's and Home Depot but have been unable to find this type of receptacle (except in 125v) that is tamper free. I was checking to see if anyone else knew if they make the 240v tamper free receptacle.

Tamper resistant receptacles are not required for 240 volt receptacles by the code. Your electrician is mistaken.

Tamper proof are for 120VAC wall outlets, not 240 VAC.

Thanks for the advise. After looking every where for a tamper free receptacle and finding none I thought this might be the case.

Just for fun... it's tamper "resistant", it's harder to tamper with not impossible!
